Corniche III: 1989 to 1992

The Corniche III, introduced in 1989, was the first to feature airbags. The electric seats now had a memory function, an electronic trip computer was introduced, and the car now had a ten-speaker radio/cassette/CD player.

An MK Motronic engine management system with a catalytic converter, which controlled both the injection and ignition systems, was a further technological advance. 452 of this generation were made.

The hood of these convertibles rested on the back of the car behind the rear seat. Whilst it was electrically operated, folding the hood into the rear body of the car between the rear seat and boot did not appear until the Corniche V was developed.
