Corniche IV: 1992 to 1995

The Corniche had been manufactured at the subsidiary Mulliner Park Ward factory in London. But, in 1991, this coach builder subsidy closed. The production of the Corniche IV took place at the main site in Crewe. The Mulliner name was acquired by the Volkswagen Group when it bought Bentley in 1998 and is used to denote a special edition of modern Bentley models.

The Corniche IV from 1992 featured an updated ride control system that solved a problem with the previous version, which defaulted to a harder ride rather than a soft one. A modern 4-speed automatic gearbox replaced the 3-speed. The plastic rear window was replaced with a glass window with a heating element.

Effectively, this was the last of the original Corniche line.

In October 1992, 25 cars were built to celebrate 21 years of the Corniche, all finished in blue with a cream hood and a special silver plaque on the dashboard. In 1995, another special was produced featuring a turbocharged engine. This had the designation Corniche S and an individual-numbered plaque in the centre console. These cars were the last of the line. There would be a Corniche V introduced in 2000; however, this was a new car, not just an upgrade.
