How J K Mullins founded The Book Hook Online
J K Mullins, a new Amazon KDP author, founded The Book Hook Online in 2025 after creating several titles.
In the beginning
Like many new authors, he began by creating notebooks & journals but wanted to create books with more content. He wrote the book “Memories of an Elvis fan” that described his personal experiences as a lifelong Elvis Presley fan. This gained a few sales in several countries.
Encouraged, he created several colouring books using the pen name Colour Special, and more books related to Elvis Presley. These included the “Iconic Moments with Elvis” series. Jason also wrote a book about the history of the Rolls Royce Corniche motor car.

After using Amazon Ads to promote his books he discovered the cost of the Amazon Ads in relation to the royalties received. So, he began exploring additional ways of promoting the books including social media.
The idea then came to him to create a website that links readers to his books and those by other self-published authors at no cost to the authors. The site will curate and list books as well as providing a link directly to the local Amazon site where shoppers can purchase the books. This idea was extended further to feature other products and services that may be of interest to users leading to the affiliate products page.
The Book Hook Online aspires to help the self-published author to organically gain sales in a cost effective manner.

As Jason’s contact with indie authors grew, the next step was to develop an Etsy shop. The idea was to create custom merchandise related to the authors work. This required Jason to develop skills in the print-on-demand world. To help boost the profile of the shop these skills were then re-applied and a whole host of unique products were introduced. After moving away from Amazon KDP, Jason re-launched as self-published author on Ingram Spark starting with “Memories of an Elvis fan” on October 13, 2025.
